Dr.Nitin Ashok John ,Dean (Academics)

Dr. Nitin Ashok John assumed charge of Dean (Academics) in AIIMS Bibinagar on 24 June 2025..

He did his MBBS from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sewagram Wardha and MD from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College. In addition to that he had received the Fellowship from Royal Society of Biology FRSB (London UK), Fellowship from Royal Society of Public Health FRSPH (London UK), and Fellowship of Academy of Medical Educators FAcadMEd (Cardiff, UK). He has also completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics, from NLSU Bangalore, DIH from Annamalai University , Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration from Algappa University and MA in Public Administration from campus of Nagpur University. He is also the Graduate in Life Style Medicine from European Life Style Medicine Organization 2023 and qualified Life Style Medicine Consultant. He is also the of Fellow of Advance HE Academy, UK; (FHEA) PR278737 granted dated 07/06/2034 and it the most reverend title in field of medical education..

He has total of 30 years of standing experience in Medical Profession which includes Twenty Five years of experience as faculty & Four years as Medical Officer / Honorary Doctor. He has an administrative experience of 16 years and had worked as Officiating Dean Academics, Dean Examination, Executive Registrar, Chairman Post Graduate Admission and Management Committee, Chief Warden Hostels, Chief Administrative Officer and Professor In-charge Examination at various prestigious government institutes.

He has been the UG–PG assessors for Medical Council of India from 2011-2019 and is the UG–PG assessor for National Medical Commission, New Delhi from 2019 onwards, Vice President of Scientific Innovation Society of Uttar Pradesh, 2019 Onwards, President, Association of Physiologist of India UP Chapter 2019-2020, Finance Secretary, Association of Physiologist of India, 2014-2016, and member of various International and National Scientific Societies. He is member of many national and international scientific associations.

He has conducted & Supervised around 40 research projects includes 10 funded projects. He has 110+ research publications in National and International Journals and has authored 8 text books in Physiology. As a Physiologist, he has authored theory and Practical Books in Physiology He is also the Editor of CC Chaterjees Textbook of Physiology which is widely read in India and South Asia. He is also the Editor of Global famous Gold Standard book ‘West Respiratory Physiology, Wolters and Kluwers, USA. He has delivered more than 60 guest lectures at national and international levels at various scientific meetings.

He has received several awards in academic and research including Received Distinguished Professor Award from Saint Martins Centre for research and Accreditation Commission, Melbourne Australia in December 2021 and was also awarded the Universal Outstanding Researcher Award by the International American Council for Research and Development, Illinois USA for 2022. He has also received Commendation by Chief Minister of Puducherry for Excellent compilation and publishing of Bulletin of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute: 2010-2015.
